About five weeks into each fall semester, we get away from campus to hear preaching from a great speaker and to have a weekend full of fun! Join college students from throughout the Shenandoah Valley to get away for a weekend to connect with God, and build relationships.
Matt Smethurst will be back again as our speaker this year! He became a Christian at a young age through the witness of his parents. While at JMU, God used Cru to spark a passion for evangelism, discipleship, and theology. After graduating, Matt moved to East Asia for two years on a Cru STINT. After returning to the U.S., he participated in a pastoral internship in Washington, D.C., before moving to Louisville to attend Southern Seminary. Matt and his wife, Maghan, have three kids and belong to Third Avenue Baptist Church in Louisville, where Matt serves as an elder. He is the managing editor of The Gospel Coalition and author of 1–2 Thessalonians: A 12-Week Study (Crossway, 2017).
